One of the top reasons a business will fail is due to communication breakdown and toxic culture. In most cases, it’s the culture that creates breakdowns in communication. Dium recommends that you ask yourself and your team this question, How does your team work together?

This is a continuous process and feedback should always be taken from the team to improve team dynamics and to ensure the team culture stays positive and productive.
A good grounding point for any team is to figure out each person’s key skills and roles. This understanding will establish each person’s area of expertise while creating a structure for team communication. To help facilitate team communication you should understand how each person works and their preferred communication method. To ensure communication and progress are happening, set up planned meetings like weekly check-ins or milestone meetings. Planning these in advance will create a rhythm, give everyone a deadline, and give everyone time to prepared for these meetings.
Something that is typically overlooked when working in a team, is what motivates each person, and how the company aligns with these motivations. Creating something new is never easy, so help each other out by keeping everyone’s motivations top of mind. Even better, make sure new team members have motivations that match up with your company before bringing them on board.
As mentioned, this is a continuous process, so make sure there is space for everyone to provide feedback and make sure it is recorded. You can read all the books in the world for team management, but the thing that matters is having a culture that makes everyone comfortable, appreciated, and motivated.
